Meet Domenico Ruggeri - Dompanino

Meet Domenico ‘Dom’ Ruggeri From @dompanino 🇮🇹 🇦🇺  Established in November 2020, Dom Panino (‘DP’) is Sydney’s first Paninoteca [Italian sandwich shop] specialising in old school Italian classic panini, unique specials, homestyle pastas, salads and boutique coffee.  

The team pride themselves on slinging an authentic panino [Italian sandwich] on a ripper Italian bread roll that’s unique to DP, always fresh (never toasted!), and doesn’t rip the roof of your mouth (we all know how that feels...). Their hot panini are inspired by family recipes, and their deli panini are stacked with quality salumi [deli meats] and formaggi [cheese], both locally sourced and imported from Italy. Many of the panini are also accompanied by DP’s in house sott’olio (literally “under oil”) range of eggplant, fennel, mushrooms and green tomatoes.  

So who is Dom Panino? Born in Sydney to Sicilian parents, Domenico ‘Dom’ Ruggeri is passionate about his Italian heritage and preserving the culture for future generations, Dom Panino is exactly that! Simple Italian food made with the best produce, which is key to traditional Italian cuisine. Dom’s other love is electronic music with a career spanning over a decade organising music events and conferences in Ibiza.  

Dom took up a post at Soapbox events as Head of Events and Clubs overseeing the music programming at Chinese Laundry, RnB Fridays and Ivy Saturdays. With a global pandemic rolling in for 2020, a career in music was no longer possible. Instead of waiting for it to make a comeback, Dom saw an opportunity to pivot and follow his other love for food - this is when Dom Panino came to life.
